The DANI Awards implements Citizen Ticket's blockchain ticketing technology

The DANI Awards will be the first UK tech awards to implement Citizen Ticket’s blockchain technology to protect their guests tickets.

Up until now Blockchain technology has been mainly used to power cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but it’s potential is much greater! Blockchain’s transparency and immutability by design make it a prime technology to disrupt and improve many industries.

The events and venues industry is one of them. Ticket-touts, ticket fraud and ticket counterfeiting are serious problems that have left fans disgruntled with the status quo.

Citizen Ticket combines identity profiling and blockchain technology to root out ticket touts, guarantee authenticity of the ticket and track tickets from sale to entry.

The DANI Awards is delivered by Smart NI and is Northern Ireland’s premier Digital Industry Awards, celebrating the digital, tech and creative industries sector.

Naomh McElhatton, Director, Smart NI comments:

"Due to the significant growth year-on-year of the DANI Awards, we knew we had to discover a more secure method of selling tickets, which would protect against fraud and ensure that every ticket sale is traceable.”

"At DANI & SMART NI we are all about celebrating innovation, digitalisation and discovering unique ways of doing things. We couldn't wait to partner with Citizen Ticket to roll out this brand new technology.  We are delighted to be the very first company in Ireland to pioneer this new technology."

Philip Shaw-Stewart, Co-Founder of Citizen Ticket comments:

"We are very excited to be working with Smart NI to implement our blockchain technology at The DANI Awards, to demonstrate what our technology can do for the events industry. SMART NI & The DANI Awards will lead the way for all events that take their customers security seriously."

The DANI Awards takes place on Friday 13 April 2018 at Whitla Hall, Belfast.
