We are hugely excited to be working with Hidden Door on their 2018 festival!

Hidden Door is a multi-arts festival, exploring music, visual art, theatre, film, spoken-word and late night DJs. The festival runs for just over a week, opening up exciting and innovative “forgotten spaces” in Edinburgh.

Earlier this year, Hidden Door delivered a spectacular festival in the disused Leith Theatre. Welcoming 13,000 visitors into this stunning art deco building, they attracted rave reviews and universal praise for resurrecting “Scotland’s best new live music venue”.

After the huge success of this year’s festival, Hidden Door will be returning to this iconic and much-loved Leith Theatre in 2018. Continuing Hidden Door’s tradition of opening-up “forgotten spaces” to the public, the festival will explore the potential of another notable Edinburgh building - The State Cinema in Great Junction Street - an Art-Deco masterpiece that has sat in silence for over a decade!

David Martin, Creative Director of Hidden Door, said “This year’s festival left the public – not to mention the Hidden Door team and contributors – wanting more. Leith Theatre has enormous potential to be the venue the city is crying out for, and we can’t wait to continue the journey with the Trust and everyone involved in bringing it back to life permanently.”

Hidden Door festival runs from Friday 25th May until Sunday 3rd June 2018.

Hidden Door is currently inviting proposals from performers in the visual arts, theatre, spoken-work, dance and film to take part in the 2018 festival. This opening call is core to Hidden Door’s ethos of supporting emerging artists, musicians, theatre makers, film makers, performers and poets by showcasing their talent, and providing them with a unique and incredible platform.

The deadlines for performers and artistes proposals are: Visual Arts (13 November), Theatre (13 November), Dance (13 November), Spoken Word (20 November) and Film (5 January 2018). More information can be found at http://hiddendoorblog.org/2018-call-for-proposals/
